    Default It's Here!

Finally. The tank is here and ready for water- a 43 gallon Red Sea Reefer 170. I am really happy with the quality. From the cabinet to the sump. They even made the sump and auto top off out of the high clarity glass. Thanks to you guys for all the help, suggestions, and encouragement, Lido, Ryan925, Debow, Yom, DatDiscusdude, Bizarro252 and sorry if I forgot anyone! Your ideas for the tank, skimmer, light and pump, tips and tricks, make it truly a "community tank".

After the last 2 days of putting it and all the equipment together I learned all directions are terrible. From the cabinet to the skimmer, sump plumbing even the arm to hold the light up had tiny print, microscopic blurry pictures, and no words make assembly a bit more than awful. I found a few helpful videos and considered the rest as puzzles to be figured out with some patience. I have to straighten the light, put a wave maker in and mount all the controllers but I am calling it a day. Have been brewing ro/di all day as well. Scaping is next and then just add water and salt and substrate which I completely forgot about!

    Stay tuned for chapter 2!

Thanks buddy! Let's see how that pump fires up when the water goes in. Meters? Feet? Liters? Charts?

Thanks Matt! When I was putting the skimmer together I was thinking this is the cleanest it will ever be. Why do they make them white?

Thanks for that Dat! With that description we should be able to take it for a drive! It does have a new car smell-there is vibration/silencing mat on the floor of the cabinet that has that similar waft.

I did... I got tired of messing around. I had already bought all the equipment for the other tank and there was no way I was going to return it. I had to buy another style of tank and then I would need a cabinet and a sump...The Red Sea came with the awesome sump, the cabinet and the auto top off which is the one thing I had not bought yet. I got the high clarity glass and the rimless design I had my eye on from the get go. So I could have gone another route and would have cost me the same unless I went with something used and I will never do that again. I just wanted to be successful and I knew I could with this tank and my equipment everyone here helped me research.

So to make a long answer short, Yes!

Ryan, my house is one big fish room...plus you know I can't even get him to put a faucet on the sink so I can get an adapter on it- so no fish room for me.

I am actually about to replace the washer hose that burst while I was hooking up the ro/di. I didn't even tell him. I went out and bought stainless steel ones to replace the rubber bombs that were on there before. I am betting he won't even notice. In fact I most likely saved us from a near future flood and that one would not have been my fault for once.
