I am posting this on behalf of a friend. The discus near the surface looks sick to me,but my mate claims he got this lately and will fatten up once on food.I suspect it to be a case of internal parasites.Opinions please?I am all ears.

he looks really underfed and possibly wormy. how does his poo look? Are you only feeding bloodworms?
~JACKLYN~
I am not sure jacklyn.I belive my pal keeps them on a alternate diet of hikari discus bio gold and frozen bloodworms which he sells.

He looks like he could have intestinal worms competing for nourishment from food. But the real way to know is by looking at their poo if it is white then that is a sign. Otherwise I would tell him to beef up his feedings with FDBW or beefheart.

It is passing white stringy poo. That is what makes me believe it has got parasites.I am afraid it is too weak to withstand the treatment.

nah, metro is a very easy treatment. Your friend needs to get some metronidazole and do a 10 day treatment. He can treat the whole tank without worry, its a very easy treatment. Where does your friend live? SEachem makes a metro medication, otherwise I get mine from AngelsPlus they sell it in a powder.
~JACKLYN~
seachem's version is called MetroPlex but there are tons of people who sell metronidazole in bulk I just don't know which country you are in
~JACKLYN~
I am in India jacklyn. We have easy access to metronidazole tablets(200/400 mg) from the chemist shop.I have done metro treatments in the past but as a precaution during quarantine and not on discus which are way too infected as this. What is the safest method you would recommend, avoiding as much stress possible on the fish

When I treated, I did a half teaspoon for my 75 gallon tank for 10 days with 33% water changes every day and add back the full amount after each water change. I'm kind of dumb when it comes to converting to grams, though.

Pat is an expert Kunal, follow her lead. Your friend's fish will be awesome.
~JACKLYN~
Thanks for your efforts Jacklyn,I really appreciate it.
I have known Pat through simply for a good time now and follow her threads(although she doesnt know me).I highly regard her in the wild scene
Thank you Pat.The fish has been transfered to a 20gallon,So I will use 2 400mg tablets. As for water changes, what would you recommend 50% or more daily?

Thanks Kunal Since it is such a small tank, do as large a water change as possible.
