    Default White Stuff In Pipe

Hey Y'all, The return pipe from my sump was clear. Lately it has turned white and when I restart the pump after a wc, white flaky stuff is blown into the tank. Any idea what it is and how to get rid of it. Thanks

My tubes did that about 6 months ago, white sheets of gunk broke loose and floated around the tank for a couple hours.
Did not hurt anything, filter picked it up and it was gone.

Here's how I clean mine. It's a regular filter intake brush taped to the end of a nylon electrical fish tape. I disconnect my tubing occasionally and push this through the tubes. Cleans all the gunk out quick and easy. Then flush with water. 419201720539.jpg

Home depot. Standard ones are steel but they also carry this nylon one.

I do lots of electrical work so this just happened to be a spare that was re-purposed. Works great

Musical instrument stores sell trombone slide cleaning brushes. Very similar brush on both ends of a 3-4 foot nylon coated steel cable.

Some of my growing discus eats this bacterial / mould stuff when it comes out of my canister outtake. I tend to shut off filters on 30-40 min. Timer on every feeding , so it gets released in my tank regularly after the filter restarts . I've never noticed any I'll effects on my discus eating it , so far.
