I use it upon the advice of DJW, but my tap water has very little mineral content. It gets a little pricey for my taste, but my discus have no pits in their face, and I believe having all the right minerals is the main reason. Some say that discus get most of their minerals through their food, but I can't say conclusively one way or another. I am operating under the "ain't broke, don't fix it" model.

It should be said that with any of these products you have to be very careful to add the precise amount consistently with each water change to replace the amount of water that you are removing during your water changes. Any variation or fluctuations in the amount of remineralization products used can lead to unstable water parameters which are bad for your fish. Stable water parameters are much better than chasing an ideal resulting in unstable water parameters.
