Likely because your temp is higher than your set temp so the inkbird is trying to reach set temp by cooling
Just got a new Inkbird 308, had a question on setup.
The heater is plugged into the heating outlet, but the light on the display is on cooling?
Looks like I am missing something.
The temp is set to 84F, actual temp is 84.6.

Thanks Ryan, that could be the case.
So it is not the reading on where the heater is plugged in (given 2 outlets heater and cooler), the cooling light was on from the start.
Right. As soon as your temp drops to set temp it should go off if it stays above set temp it will stay on. It's not harming anything just energizing that plug

Got it, thank you!
Does the unit reset automatically, after a power outage?
It stores your settings, so when it comes back on it works like it did before. The one time I had an outage in the middle of the night, the tank water chilled below the low temp alarm setting, and when the power came back on I was still sleeping. The low temp alarm woke me up
Nice, thanks Eric
