Default 140 gallon (540l) hitech planted tank

I've switched from angels to discus couple of months ago (great decision so far, love these guys). I'm still struggling with some plants (and algea) because of quite a hard tap water, but now I've started to use RO, so it should get much better.
There are 7 stripped turquoise discus, 6 Keyhole cichlids and 10 Copper tetras in a tank. I also like my decision to keep keyhole cichlids from the original setup, they are cleaning bottom of the tank all the time.
I hope I'll update with some much nicer pics in couple of weeks.

Great looking planted scape Jarry .
It will be a real challenge to keep both discus and plants happy in this planted setup though.
Have you switched to 100% RO or you mix it with tap water for remineralization and buffer ?
Play with your light intensity or its duration to prevent algae from growing out of balance.
Good luck with your discus and just keep posting pics from this beauty .

Thank you, well it was quite a challenge at the beginning, but it's much better now as I'm gaining some experience. Discus seem to be happy so far, they are all "dancing" at the front glass each time I enter the room and eat like crazy all I give them (only best available food of course). There is one pair which already tried to breed (during tank maintenance, I had my hands in the tank at that time), but eggs were gone next morning - they are still very young and it was before RO water, so no chance anyway. There were much more plants in the tank before discus, but I was trying to manage better balance for discus, so I removed most of plants - but I like this setup more then that very heavily planted. I'm mixing RO water with tap water (2:1 ratio) to achieve GH around 5. Also pH finally dropped from 7.1 to 6.5 (thanks to CO2) and I can see some positive effect on the fish and plants as well - but plants are still getting used to new water parameters. To algae - it is under control, but I have to keep NO3 around 15mg/l. Each time I try to lower it (for fish) it leeds to algae.

Quick update - plants are doing much better now in softer water (4-5GH), also some kind of black algae I was fighting over a year is gone, it was all caused by harder water (15GH before I started to use RO). So now I can finally start to concentrate on overall look, I want to have more Blyxa in front, Pogostemon Erectus will be expanded and I've also planted some Rotala Walichii.

Do you use a pH controller with your CO2 injection? I've always been curious about using that to keep the water at a discus friendly 6.5 or so. What light do you have on there? Jealous of your plant growth! The discus look awesome too!
