I have it tap-conned into a concrete wall in my garage, As long as you use at least two shelves the shelf is very ridgid. Just be careful of the actual shelve bottoms they provide in the kit, they are made out of particle board and we all know what happens when particle board gets wet. I just threw out the ones that came with it and cut some new ones out of thicker plywood.

You have the tank going to the edges of the cabinet where it is at its strongest. I can't tell from your photo but you may have a piece of foam under it? I would put a piece of plywood under there for better support, and if you can, possibly place some timbers vertically in the corners of the cabinet. I know that filing cabinets are made of very thin sheet metal and tend to warp even with the weight of paper files.

Well turns out it wasnt a problem. The cabinet held fine.I did stain a piece of plywood and put it under the tank as Joe suggested though. Also put a thin piece of foam.
I havent done the solar set up yet as I had to commandeer the tank for a young pair of blue Snakeskins.

Guess old habits really do die hard. Im back to using furniture as tank stands.Talk about coming full circle. Lol

    Nicely done Al.
I bet the overhanging plywood comes in handy as a shelf when feeding or doing water changes as well.

It does Joe. I was a little worried that openning and closing the draws would spook the discus or agitate the water but its pretty stable. They dont seem to mind at all.
