    Default Aquaclear 110 filer pad

I just purchased a 110 and was wondering if anyone uses an additional filter or polishing pad? does it reduce flow or cause a bypass issue?

    thanks,
    jim

+1 on pre-filter, sponge and loads of bio metrix

I use the sponge that comes with it and buy 2 more replacements. One goes in the filter. That gives you two sponges there and does not impact flow much at all but it evenly distributes it. I take the 3rd sponge and cut it in half and make 2 prefilters from it..That give me one for the filter and 1 as a spare or for another filter or a aquaclear 70. This has worked very well.

Nothing wrong though with using ceramic noodles/biomatrix or even nylon scrubbies on top of that sponge.
