Canister filter disinfection
I have a canister filter currently on my Stendker tank. The fish are leaving soon, the filter will stay. I want to use it for one of my wilds tanks, but am worried about x-contamination.
So I'm looking for a safe but effective way to disinfect the whole thing. Media will of course be removed and will go with the stendkers.
I'm reluctant to use bleach, so was thinking vinegar.
Any input is appreciated.

Re: Canister filter disinfection
I pour bleach / water 1/20 ratio in a bucket and leave the canister intake and outtake running inside the bucket .
Rinsing and letting it dry afterwards and that's it .

Re: Canister filter disinfection
Pour in lots of swimming pool chlorine into a bucket of water, and let the filter run for a few hours and then wash everything well. You could even do masses or permangante of potash in the water. Give the outside of the filter a good wipe with bleach also.
Vinegar will NOT kill organisims in your tank.
