    Default Surfing Photos Anyone

I went to the Annual NKF Rich Salick Pro/Am Surf Festival in Cocoa Beach this past weekend. While the waves were not huge it was still fun and plenty of action. Here's a couple.

Nice photos as usual Pat. I guess action shots are always a challenge and need to be trigger happy to get that one good shot.

These are great Pat, saw them on Facebook. Always wanted to get some surfing shots but never been anywhere with decent enough waves/surfers to do so. It's on my list.

Thanks Ralph, shooting birds in flight help to prepare you for these types of shots. However I would say trigger happy is an applicable. I took almost 600 images in about 3.5 hours.

There's something so classic looking about surfing+B&W. You've dove a great job here Pat. Have you tried different pp lb the 1st one?

I didn't have anything in particular in mind. However, having the color in the shot, and specifically the green's, it kind of throws the perception of what you would think of when 'surfing'. You think blue, rather than green. So, I thought a conversion may subdue the green a bit and give you more of that classic feel.

OK, the experts have weighed in...,

but I like the foam lines pattern in the first one, the color change in the water, of course the intensity in that guy, and a great sense of horizontal/forward motion in the board. The B&W shows more vertical motion but the implied dynamic in the wave's focus is great.
