    Default Discus threesome's?

I have a female Mosaic turquoise, a male red eagle, and a male snow white that have laid about 5 batches of eggs in my community tank. The mosaic will lay the eggs and the two males then follow behind her and fertilize the eggs. There is zero fighting or pushing between the males and all three fish guard the eggs for around 24 hours before they disappear. Has anyone else seen such an "open relationship" between their fish before?

For some reason I can't get any images to upload tonight. Here's a link to the pic. https://www.flickr.com/photos/158810...blic/lightbox/

Yes, I had that happened with my fish years. Very unusual but it does happen.

I've had it with two females and a male but never with two males and a female.

I have had great luck with trios. Mine was better with two males and one female. Like you no fighting she would shake a fin or two and one would step up.
Trios help in the big cichlid species as well. I transferred some of my Dovii, Red Terror, Umbie breeding to Discus. Sometimes with these fish it will be multiple females but like in humans the females can get very nasty to one another quick like. I have not had that happen with Discus to that extent.

I have observed this with an established pair and a young male in my community tank. The main pair let the young male flirt and fertilize regularly, and even fan the eggs a bit, but eventually they would take over parental duties and push him out of the way. He was persistent and would hang back and wait patiently... then whenever the main pair were busy or distracted he would swoop back in to fan the eggs again. It was neat behaviour.

So far all three fish are fanning the eggs and they haven't disappeared yet. I have a pair of neon sapphires with about 150 wrigglers, a pair of mosaic turq's with around 20 wrigglers and now these three with about 50 eggs all going on in my display tank.

Hi, can you post some updated pictures of the fry? Curious to see how they turned out.
    Thanks

Rob, The threesome pair are all in my community tank at the moment and the wrigglers disappear once they become free swimming. I have a few breeding pairs in their own separate tanks but I only focus on breeding the same variety to each other.
