You should know that G. argyrostictus are an aggressive geo, so they certainly wouldn't do well with discus. My sveni are also very pushy and greedy, so it'd be a no on those as well.

Thank you, Ryan. It doesn't appear like I will be able to find any of the three varieties that I want anyways. Rapps has a few of the sveni left, but I want all of 1 variety, not a mixture,.

I do not. Most cichlids will out-pace discus at feeding time.

Collecting season is soon. A larger variety of geos will be available from Oct/Nov through April. You may wait and see what pops up.

Oh! Okay! Thank you for that information, I appreciate it.
I will scrap the idea of putting in the discus with the Geo's--- not worth the risk.

    What Geo's do you have?
Would you mind posting a picture of the tank and fish so I can see how you aquas-caped it?
I have put up my background and started on putting some of the equipment up, but that's it (only had the tank for a little over a week);... it is a bit (the background)unconventional in that it is a frosted and slightly textured window film here is a couple pictures of background under different lighting:

and have a ton of spider wood.... but am procrastinating on aquascaping... seems overwhelming!

Also, Ryan, what do you think about the Altum Angels and Geo's. Would they also not be able to get enough food?

    There are 5 geophagus.
In the tank there is also:

    12 phenacogrammus aurantiacus 'lamp-eye tetra'
    20 h. pulchripinnis 'orange-red' 'orange lemon tetra'
7 corydorus splendens 'emerald green corydoras'
    7 otocinclus cocama 'zebra oto'

Soon as I can find some:
    5-7 pterophylum altum.

Here is a picture of my tank:

    Fantastic tank.

I am looking forward to starting either a discus or Malawi tank in a bit. Hopefully it turns out as well as yours did.

beautiful scape Discluv, what lighting system are you using? I recently purchased some domestic angels from Liz (a member of this forum) she raised some half blacks that look wild. I actually think your tank is more geared toward domestic angels with all the nooks and crannies that will be hard to keep clean to the level that wilds need.

if you want to take a look at the angels Liz has, go here http://forum.simplydiscus.com/showth...ght=half+black

The light is Licah LED Plant light LDP 1800
Its nice because it, Package 3, comes with a dimmer and timer control box. Here is a link for the specs.

I second the idea of getting some half blacks from Liz. Reasons are as follows:

    1. Wild caught altums can be very skittish. In my experience, it takes quite a bit of TLC to get them comfortable in a tank. Not sure they'll react well to large geos. (BTW, I love geos.)
    2. The season is mostly passed. You should order altums in late August/early September when they come out of the Amazon. The later you go, the lower the survival rate. Again, this has been my experience.

    Tank looks great, Willie
At my age, everything is irritating.
