More? Less? Or Stay the Same?
I am having a problem with my wild discus and would like some opinions. I have 12 wilds in a 210 gallon aquarium. In general, they are doing fine, if not great. The issue is that the lowest fish on the pecking order get bullied. I have pulled 3 (I think I need to pull 2 more) and put them in a 20 high to recuperate. Do you all think I should add more discus and over crowd them like you do with African cichlids? Do I wait it out, leave it alone and let nature take its course? Or should I permanently move out the lowest on totem pole?
Thanks

I preface this by saying wild discus are a royal PITA...
To me one of the most gorgeous creatures mother nature has offered us but wow, what work and headaches...
They can become very agressive to a weaker or lower ranked guy and they are very delicate and can swing in the blink of an eye... I am currently going through something similar. I am at the point of giving it away or culling. It refuses to eat, Ive tried many meds and methods to no avail. Like Harry says, maybe some are just not meant to be. Adding more can't hurt but take the proper precautions.

Yes- I agree. Try introducing more fish gradually and see what happens. That's the beauty of discus - they have a mind of their own unlike other fish!

Well I pulled 4 of them out. I will see if I can get them healthy again by treating metrodoizole. I will see. I put one of the ones that I pulled previously back into the big tank. I was initially worried about 5 of them. I will keep watch on them.
