Gold Fish
I just came across a video that according to MAK LOU a discus fish expert you can use fancy tailed gold fish as clean up crew in a discus aquariums.
Any views on this.

Hi Stu,
Theres a reason goldfish are used in pathology labs, they can be a parasite and pathogen smorgas borg.... many of which will harm your discus. I may be accused of being conservative and a worrywort but I would not put any goldfish related species with discus.
Just because you can do something doesn't necessarily mean you should!

My view: better to just keep it simple and clean the tank myself.

I have to agree with the folks here. Goldfish are the dirtiest fish. They make a mess of the water by producing so much waste. I would think they would do the opposite of what you want them to do. I wouldn't even think of putting them with discus. Just my 2 cents.

And the overcrowded filthy conditions goldfish are kept in at the local pet stores... the poor fish... but they would never come near my tanks...

Yea I'm going to have to agree with everyone else in that this is probably a horrible idea. Even the logic behind the goldfish eating the discus waste seems flawed because it's keeping the waste in the system for longer and the ammonia from the goldfish's gills is additional bioload.
