Default Root type wood attached to the tank sides

    Hi,

I have root type pieces of wood, and would like to avoid having them rest at the bottom of my tank. Objective is to be able to easily clean all the bottom and avoid having parts of the bottom which are inaccessible.

I thought of somehow having the root type wood come down from the sides. But I am unsure as to how I would hold them from the side and keep them in place without resting at the bottom. Any ideas/suggestions pls?

    Thanks!

You could epoxy a couple magnets on the side of the wood and silicone a couple magnets to the outside of the tank. Easy to remove and off the bottom.

Make sure the magnets are plastic coated or covered in epoxy. Some magnets rust very quick and easily. The other thought is if they are real aggressive like neodymium they could break glass if they snap together too fast.
    Great idea thou.

No rust and a nice sizing chart.

you could also use suction cups. figure out some way to mount suction cups to the wood, perhaps even at an angle and suction them to the side of the tank.

you could also attach them to a piece of pvc pipe, wood, or any thing you can imagine and hang them in the tank like a curtain rod, so the pipe or wood rests on top of the aquarium, with the driftwood hanging in the tank. That way you can easily remove them for cleaning if needed. You could just drill holes in the pipe, and wood, and ziptie them together. You could use 2 or 3 pipes to give the hanging wood more of the look of multiple tree roots. Id organize a small groups of driftwood branches together to look like individual clusters of tree roots.

Nice idea Leland . I just wonder where do you attach the pipes to hang , once you get them zipped with the wood.
Pictures would be helpful if you have any for better visualization .

The pipe itself wouldn’t be attached to anything, it would be the length of the tank so that it rests on the frame of the aquarium.

If you can siphon it up I would say that driftwood is too far decomposed. If the brown dust is actually adhered to things its probably diatoms and related to your tank lighting and nutrient load.
