I've got several tanks on metal/costco/gorilla/other name racks. 75's at waist height, 55's below. One rack has now produced a small leak in the top 75 for two different tanks. Do they flex and sway too much or is it just coincidence?

I've heard of this happening when the long edges of tanks are unsupported, not gorilla racks, but stands in general. Are you using plywood for the 75's?

My 75's sit on a 1" Styrofoam pad on gorilla racks. Ten years and no problems so far.

I've had them sitting on a plywood or particle board layer I had to put on top of the regular shelf to lift the tank above the edges of the vertical supports, if that makes sense. Haven't used styrofoam. Does that allow them to settle in and be more stable?

Should work. As long as they get to rest on a smooth, even surface, the tanks should be fine.

I don't know about more stable, but it should make them more evenly supported if the underlying surface isn't level. I'm not going to say anymore and curse myself.

Yes, 2 x 75 gal and 4 x 20 gal. All were on 3/4 ply and foam If I were to do it again I wouldn't waste the money and just build a 2x4 system and pretty it up.
