It is more than enough for a 125 gal.6 footer.No other equipment like air stones are needed if hooked up right.

Mervin , I wonder have you ever tried to stopwatch and measure the real flow of the FX 6 once its stuffed with filter media and housed 3 feet under the tank ?
I've read and heard that they are true beasts when it comes to flow so I was curious if anyone have try to measure the real flow of the famous Fx 6

The flow rate seemed greater than 2 xp-xl Filstar filters on my tank.I only stuff about 50% full each basket in the filter with Matrix and a few more sponges than what comes with the filter 30 ppi,2x20 ppi and 2x10 ppi.The water is always particle free and clear.I also like the way they stop and burp every 12 hours to let the air out of the lines and filter.Very quiet for a large filter.

I run fx4 on my 125 and it is a great canister .

I run two hydro IV sponge filters and a 3 liter custom K1 Kaldness fluidized bed filter in my 75 gallon tank and two hydro IV sponges in my 55 gallon tank.
