Home depot sells a variety of tru union ball valves. I use several on my tanks and never had a problem
Hello all,
I am replumbing my RO system, as it looks like a chemical waste hazard at the moment. Is there any reason to buy the $$$ Cepex valves, or are the $7.50 valves from pvcpipesupplies.com sufficient? I need 5 in 3/4".

Match the plumbing in your mainline. There is a lot more pressure in the front end of an R/O unit than on a tank.
My house was built 2011 and uses CPVC for mainline plumbing. If you use PVC it might be worth using schedule 80 ball joints. Also if it is going to be permanent, gluing/cementing will be more leak-proof than a union.
I adore my true union schedule 80 valves. I turn 24 of them on and off every day. I use 1". They are an joy to my life. I got sick and tired of replacing normal PVC valves. The are easy to turn on and off with one of my old arthritic hands. If something goes wrong with one all I have to do it take it apart and replace the part. It hasn't happened yet, but I imagine that the first things to give up the ghost will be the O rings.
Your application is different from mine and I don't understand why you would find the True Union valves better for your application. My advice is that if you turn the valve on and off often and want something that will last until after your dead, go with the True Union. If not plain old schedule 40 valves are fine.

This ^ They will be used to move RO between containers, very similar to a saltwater mixing station that reefers use.
Mainly just want to know if all the sch 80 true union ball valves are fine, and it seems like they are. The Cepex are just too $$$ to not look for an alternative. I was thinking these: http://pvcpipesupplies.com/3-4-pvc-t...ed-1407gt.html
Thanks for the replies so far, everyone.
I bought mine from the same place. Best price I was able to find for them.

I run the Cepex and Spears Anything that handles water outside of the tank I don't risk using cheaper alternatives. The quality and ease of the ball movement is terrific.
Go for the True Union, You will not regret the choice.

You can also go to www.savko.com they have everything you could want for plumbing your tank. I have used them for 2 full blown reef systems and my current Discus tank.
Couldn't do without them myself... use them with my UV Sterilizer.
