Thanks, Al. They are peas in a pod, aren't they? I have never had such a large uniform spawn. These are excellent fish.

Liz, are the parents the ones you got from Jay on Aquabid? They are incredibly consistent in size and shape.

No, I got these from a Keith Brando, also on Aquabid. Jay's are nice fish but they're he's on his 4th generation working with them. They need outcrossing.

This is a pretty bad pic. The tank is dark with Rooibos tea. I'll try again after WC and if the water is still too dark I'll move the pair to another tank and try again.

I tried and failed. As you see, they are getting ready to spawn again. After WC they moved to look hard at the back of one of Barb's cones. They would not come out to pose. They're in a 100 with some of Jay's stripeless half blacks because I won't have the tank space to raise more of their fry until I suck it up and cull a bunch of perfectly good, but less valuable Angels. I've had to do it once before. It's hard for me to get the fortitude to do it with a cold heart, and having a cold heart is necessary when doing that job.

I may transfer them to a breeding tank tomorrow. Having another huge perfect spawn from them will make me get up my nerve to do what I must do. I need to breed a pair of Jay's too, so I can cross the lines. The pair with the fry are very strongly bonded. There is no point in trying one of them with one of Jay's.

It's too late for me to modify my original post so I will say it here. USPS Priority shipping is $20. more which would make the total $60. for 6 fish. There was a misunderstand with one buyer. He still wants the fish and has forgiven me for not making the total price including shipping clear.

That's a great looking spawn, Liz. Seldom have I seen one where the half black coloration is so uniform across the entire population. If only I had an extra tank...

I've never seen anything like it either. I paid what is considered to be too much for this pair of half blacks but what I paid for them was not to much. The consistency in size and coloration of their offspring blows me away.

No one locally? A shop or something will take the good fry off your hand so you dont have to cull good fish??
