add some salt to the tank, that will help with the healing process. keep very clean water that's about it. just monitor and make sure it doesn't get infected which it wont if you are keeping up with your water changes.
I just noticed 1 of my discus has a small patch of skin missing on his face. he is acting normal and eating. it could have been spooked and crashing into a tank decor. is there anything i can use to prevent infection and promote healing?
thanks,
jim

Thanks Jacklyn..
+1 but really observe, if it starts to get worse you may need to QT and take a stronger course of action. I once lost a gorgeous cuperia cross when I small wound kept getting worse even w water changes and salt. Usually it works and I have had great success with it, but at times it doesn't so be mindful keep a close look. can you post pics?
Phil,
I'll post 1 as soon as i can.
Thanks
I have found the best treatment for external injuries is salt (1-2 tbsp/10 gal) and Furan-2 according to directions.

Here is a pic of the bruise . you can see the square just next to the eye.
Does it seem to be getting better or showing any signs of healing? That one looks a bit nasty... You have a hospital tank?
i just noticed it yesterday, so i haven't noticed anything yet, i do have a qt tank which i have other discus in now i can move it to. but i think i want to wait a few days to see if the salt treatment helps.
thanks
Yeah, that looks like a good size wound. Even if the salt helps I bet it'll take a while to heal.

Update. so far, the wound hasn't gotten worse and the fish is active and eating. thanks for all the replies.
