Default Finally, they haven’t ate the kids

Ok so after about seven attempts, mom and pop learned that their fry are not snacks. 3 weeks in and I have a lot of babies. I’m still hoping that my frozen brine and beefheart food is going to work. I have seen the fry eating off the food a little but not sure. Will that food work? 04FECAFB-A0FC-481E-9F83-74AFCF3C3BB4.jpg8FCCE0EB-43ED-4C92-8D85-C233984EA086.jpgD01BA40C-1FA9-4439-BD95-EF7524931ADF.jpg958123E8-AA23-4627-AA23-271B631C1F73.jpgA60FBF96-831E-4EA7-9B5B-F3A09288231A.jpg

What Phil said, bbs is the standard first food to feed fry and it's quite easy to do.

That pair appears to be a PB and a non-PB which would result in heavily peppered offspring btw.

I feed fry with bbs when they're young, but find that weaning them to beefheart as soon as possible will give the best results. I just soak a piece of beefheart in water and mince it. I've been able to wean fry as early as 11 - 12 days after they grow freeswimming to beefheart. Once they eat beef, they never go back.

Good luck with the spawn, Willie

Frozen brine shrimp are adults and too big for fry to eat. BBS = Baby brine shrimp, which are hatched out fresh. Their jerky movement stimulates eating behavior by the fry. You can also buy decapsulated brine shrimp.

I prefer to leave my light on for albino, semi-albino types to promote attachment. For your strains, it makes no difference. Don't forget to keep up with water changes though.

    Good luck, Willie

Can I shred beefheart for them, there about 3 weeks now start to cruise around? What is BP mean and by peppered does than mean black speckles on face or all over body?? I’m not looking to make money I’m just going for a success at this point. These two will not stop breeding, there like machines so I gave em there own tank and wallah!! So I’m just trying to go for it.

I feed ground up beefheart mix to the adults. For the fry, I just soak it in warm water and it comes apart.

PB = Pigeon Blood, which your cream/yellow colored fish appears to be. The peppering would likely be all over the offspring.
