Great idea, I'll try it
Thank you
I have a BB 90 gal tank with 10 Discus. I've using the Eheim Quick Vac Pro Vacuum to clean the bottom of the tank. It works OK, but not great. Here is what I did and now it is beyond great, it's awesome IMHO.
I took off the removable bottom tube. I replaced it with a piece or 3/4" PVC pipe. I pushed the pipe over the extension that encloses the impeller. The PVC pipe is cut to 13.5 inches but you can cut it to any length. At 13.5" it reaches the bottom of my 90 gal tank easily. I also cut the end of the pipe at an angle so you can get into the corners. The suction is at least 3X greater then it was before and the batteries seem to last longer.
I bought the pipe from Lowe's. It is marked " Charlotte Pipe - 3/4 PVC 1120 Schedule 40. I've added two pictures so you can see what it looks like. It does a wonderful job and makes it quick and easy. I'd be interested in your thoughts.

I use this vac, but i have sand substrate and there is just enough suction not to bring the sand up the vac. will putting this tube on it cause the sand to be suctioned up as well?
thanks,
Don't use the tube if you have any type of gravel. It is for use in a BB tank only.

Anyone try this yet....................

BB = bare bottom
The smaller bore tube will suck the gravel right out of your tank.
Thank you.
