Default Has anyone tried these? Discus liquid vitamin

I just found this article that lists a lot of different vitamins for fish. Has anyone tried any of these?

Does anyone recommend a liquid vitamin that I can soak discus food in?

I use Vitachem in water column once a week and in food 2 X weekly with my discus. I use it for my wild tetras and geophagus as well on routine basis. In the last year I have used it, I have found that all my fish have increased over-all health and appetite.

Interesting ... never heard or thought about vitamins in the water .... I will be ordering 16oz of this ... Did your fishes ( be it Discus or tetras ) color up using this as well? Or just get beefier ?
    Thanks !!!!

I didn't notice a coloring up in using. I have just noticed an increased appetite, filling out, and all around health in my fish.

I use liquid vitamins ampules for people. I buy it at the pharmacy and add it to the beef heart when I make it.

It's hard to imagine how adding vitamin to the water could have any benefit for discus. It makes more sense to add it to their food. However, beef heart comes from cows that produce > 10,000 lb of milk every year. Milk that we feed our children to make them grow strong. So it's unlikely that the cow is vitamin deficient in any way.

I'm not condemning the practice - just questioning its efficacy.

I relate to what you're saying it seems so silly that swimming around a vitamin would help.... but I read that our body is our biggest organ and soaking in something in our bathwater or adding a patch of medicine to our skin can have even better effect than something passing through our gut. Pharma makes many medicinal patches - birth control, scopolamine patch for motion sickness, fentanyl for back pain, etc. I'm sure fish also have the ability to absorb nutrients in some manner through their body or gills.

They say all freshwater fish swallow water when eating so even if it's not absorbed through the skin it could still be digested. Imagine if every drink of water you took had vitamins in it? It would be healthier than if you drank plain water.

I actually believe that I'd be better off drinking plain water and eating a good diet.

That's cool. I guess we are all different.

I went to an MD for my chronic migraines and they said I tested low in iron, magnesium and vitamin D despite my eating very healthy they put me on vitamins. My son has immune problems so he gets pneumonia every time he gets sick and he has severe allergies. Now I add things to his food to help strengthen his immune system. I juice veggies and add antioxidants. I haven't been blessed with great health and sadly my son hasn't either. I think it's good to explore your options and do what you feel is best for you and your fish.

Once one of the B vitamins helped my carpal tunnel back when I abused my hands. It was either B1 or B6.
