    Default disease questionare filled out

I just wanted to give a little history also. Questionnaire below. I made the mistake of not having my tank completely cycled when the fish arrived. So my water parameters were not steady, huge mistake I know!! I had 2 large pieces of driftwood with attached plants in the tank that I have removed, my PH kept falling. I did add some crushed coral to level it out while I still had the driftwood in the tank, but the removed the cc since i removed the driftwood. My ph has held steady at the # below for 10+ days now. My ammonia has been at this .25 or below for some time now. I have never seen it at a 0.
The fish in question has always acted this way, but is now noticeably not growing like the others.

    Problem

    1. Please explain the problems with your fish. When did you notice the problems and did anything unusual happen that you think started them?

Stressed, not growing like others, gets very dark during WC's and is a loner. He has been this way since the day I got him.

    2. Symptoms (i.e. turning dark, excess slime, not eating, clamped fins, flashing, darting, clamped gills, white/yellow/green poop, hiding, headstanding or tailstanding, white on tips of fins, rotting or fungus, blisters/white zits on fish, bloated, cloudy eyes, wounds).

Turns dark at times, only eats freeze dried black worms, clamped fins at times, sits at bottom sometimes, sits at bottom on its side and only breathes thru 1 gill during WC's

    3. What medications/ treatments have you already tried and what were the results. Include dosage and duration of treatment.

Used prazipro in the 1st couple of weeks. Past couple of days, only used salt

    Tank/Water

    4. Tank size and ages, numbers and sizes of fish.

120 gallon tank. New set up - started in October. 10 fish ranging in size from 4"-5"+

    5. Water change regime (What percentage and how often).

Was changing about 60-75% every other day, but have done daily changes the last 2 days.

    6. How long has tank been running? Is it bare bottom? If you have substrate, what type and how deep is it?

New set up, running since late Sept/early Oct. Bare bottom

    7. Do you age your water? If you do for how long and what is the ph swing.

I do not age the water. Tested the water straight from tap, aged for 24 hrs., and aged 24hrs with aeration. No more than a .2 difference

    8. Parameters and water source;

Note: Water Parameters are important in diagnosing problems within a tank. If you don't own test kits for the following information, you can purchase them, test your parameters and post this info as soon as possible.

    - temp ____84/85_

    - ph _7.4-7.6____

    - ammonia reading __<.25__

    - nitrite reading _0___

    - nitrate reading 5____

What type of water or combinations of water sources do you use? If it is an RO/tap/well water mix, please list percentages in the mix.

    - well water ____

    - municipal water 100%_

    - RO water ____

    9. Any new fish, plants or inverts added recently.

    NO

    10. Please tell us what you feed your fish and how often. This can be critical information for solving the problem so be as specific as you can.

I feed 3x a day. I feed freeze dried blackworms, Diskus Gold pellets, and still trying to find a 3rd food they like.

    11. Include any pictures or videos you have which shows the symptoms. If you can't add them to this post, please provide a link to them.

Hi Mary, I saw your post in the SD FB group. The only thing I would suggest, especially since this fish has not acted like the others since you got him is he could be a compromised fish meaning he will never be right and always be a weak fish. I would suggest that if he does get sick might be best to cull him so no one else gets sick.

Also, what type of water(source)?Do you see any micro bubbles after a large WC?If you do see them large WC's can be an issue.I don't believe that driftwood would have gotten your water softer with that many WC's in that large of volume in that short of time;it takes longer. With your current tap water PH is no issue.

Thanks for the responses. I'm watching him carefully.
bluelagoon... I have city water and use a filter sock stuffed with a filter pad to avoid microbubbles.

Do you have the option of putting it in a smaller quarantine tank? Would make frequent water changes easier along with any medications. Just a thought.
