Here's a pic of my new red snakeskin pair. Both were bright red to start, but the male(?) has turned blue
They're guarding eggs on the other side of the cone. I'll update!

Steve it looks like there is something wrong with them so it's in your best interest to send them to me...Lol
It's possible the male has a genetic strait that has carried the blue coloration from parents or grandparents.
As for changing colors...they do darken to allow fry to attach but I suspect you know that already.

Very nice Steve. Is this the same snakeskin pair that you had juvies for sale awhile ago?

No. The female from that pair died maybe 9 months ago, don't know why. And the male, my 8+ year old big guy, just suddenly wasted away within about a month, a couple months ago. These are new guys I got separately from Kenny, and glad to see them pair up. I have F1's from the other pair I'm watching for possible hookups.

The male from the previous pair was the largest fish I've ever had, 8"+, which is why I wanted to breed him. I got some nice fish from him. It will be interesting to see if I can get some nice fry from an F1 pair. He was a high-body, which was a thing back then, but still fairly round. Nice fish these days are much rounder than 5 or so years ago. I've got three fairly young nice confirmed pairs right now. If I can get my water needs covered, I just need to set up more growout tanks!

I've seen the thread where you showoff those F1's that you've kept, glad to hear that they're now starting to form pairs. Great fish, lets keep the gene pool going.
