    Default Possible HITH

Hello everyone! I was just watching a King of DIY video about discus and he brought up this forum.

So I have a leopard discus pair and a short while after I got them, the male had some pimps in his head. Those went away with water change (but I could see something was there, like a scar).

However, about 5 days ago, I saw a hole in his head (attached picture). I started using Asocilin, which here in my country, is used for skin infections for animals. 1 day later, I got Spirohexol plus 250 and moved him alone in another aquarium. I did not saw him eating since, but he is really active and comes at the glass, whenever someone walks in the room.

Any suggestions to what I should do after?

PS: I'm trying to clean his tank by draining a lil bit of water, hence the treatment says it should stay there 7 days with no water change.

How often are you doing water changes and at what percentage? Pimples are usually caused by dirty water, Discus have pores in their skin much like us and these pores can get infected and cause pimples.

where is the hole? I see nothing that looks like more than a perfectly shaped, super healthy discus there.

Hello everyone! Thanks for your responses.
@fishbubbles: I was doing 50% everyday. I had the pair in a cube tank for breeding. They were laying eggs consistently, but the female kept eating them (probably poor water quality).

I will get a better shot at it today as soon as I get home.

Hi Nica, I see it. Generally we do a 100% water change and redose every day or two days. Since I do not know what Asocilin is I do not know what to suggest. Please do keep an eye on your ammonia, nitrites etc. In my experience clean water and Epsom salt has cleaned up these cases.

Hello! Back with a picture! Unfortunately, I don't think I see an improvement to it.

It take a while for the pits to close. Large pit may not go away. Clean water and time are your best friends here.

@Pat, the Spirohexol treatment says if its not an improvement or goes away, I should change the water and add the meds again. What do you think?

I was thinking about moving him back with the female (so it starts eating) and focus on water changes and adding vitamins into my home-made food which I will make. Until know, I've fed them only mixture bought from pet shops, which I also think have some part of fault as they probably don't have what they need. They're also not eating tetra discus.

Hey Pat! Spirohexol treatment says that if I don't see improvements, I should extend it on the 8th day after a 50% water change and add the med again. Should I do that? PS: The "Asocilin" is an antibacterian ointment used for animals. That's what the guys are using here in my country.

I should mention that now, he isn't eating properly, but he is active in the tank. This "Spirohexol" treatment does not mention water changes during it, so I'm a lil bit afraid that he might get something else.

I do, pretty sure I can find it at a farmacy. However, I don't think I had any success in the past.

You could try it for about 48 hours. You are looking for the redness in the pit to go away. The pit will take a bit of time to go away but there is a chance it may not go completely away. You know you are on the right course once the fish starts eating again.

Should I add it over the Spirohexol? Wouldn't that affect the meds?
