    Default RO water

Hello ppl. Im new to this site and to Discus fish. I need your kind assistance.

I am currently cycling a 100 gallon tank. I am thinking on buying discus from stendker discus in Germany. I am told that these fish are kept in water with ph 7 gh 15 kh 8.

I have two sources of water at home. Tap and RO.
    My tap water parameters are:
    Ph 8.4
    Gh 16
    Kh 7
    Ammonia 0
    Nitrite 0
    Nitrate 80
    TDS 1000

    My RO parameters are:
    Ph 6.8
    Gh 0
    Kh 0
    Ammonia 0
    Nitrite 0
    Nitrate 5
    TDS 55

Given the high ph, very high nitrates and TDS in my tap water i think i should go with 100% RO water however i need the GH and KH at 15 and 8.

Are there any good supplements out there that can do the job?

    Your help is truly appreciated.

Is it a planted tank? Rocks? Driftwood? All of these variables, along with the fish, will affect your parameters.

Rock and gravel that do not affect parameters and some wood roots...

I mix RO with tap water. You could probably get away with 1:2 or 1:3. They aren't going to die if the hardness is significantly off of dGH 15.

If prefer using a reconstituting agent, I'd try Ian Fuller's recipe of 2 parts calcium carbonate (Amazon, people make mouthwash out of the stuff), 1 part marine salt and 1 part epsom salt. Mix this in a water bottle with some RO, and add to your water storage until you get the TDS you want.
