    Default Zeolite ammochips question

    Hello,
Question for you guys. A guy gave me a container of zeolite...aka ammochips. I know its used to remove ammonia but was wondering if there was a problem with leaving it in the filter? It should still be good biological substrate right? From what I can tell the ammonia can't leach back into the water, can it? Im guessing it would be fine but wanted to ask you guys.Im not using it to remove ammonia in a non-cycled tank....just want to use it for bio media.

    Thanks,
    JD

I would not use it. Something like lava rock which has lots of internal surface area would be a lot better and pretty cheap.

    What do you think?
