What breed of cow is that? The calf has one fine daddy. Is the calf a heifer? I hope so.
Today started our second year of calving. Oddly enough, our first calf was born on January 31st last year also weird huh. The heifer born today was what is called a blue roan. This happens when you cross a short horn and an angus normally. Well our bull is a baldie (half angus) and somehow we still managed to get such a rarity. Little girl was born sometime during the day today, came home from work and viola!! We're really excited to have this rare calf, and hopefully we can find someone to show this cow in the FFA. a blue roan cow would really shock some judges and might actually win some shows. Six more mommas to go calve this year, should all come between now and mid March.

Mama Bear
The coloration does look unusual, but is that what makes it a BR?
She is gorgeous Jacklyn, you must be so excited with this calf. Even better that she is a heifer.
