That’s awesome Liz. I hope it works out great.
I never said that I would not breed Discus again. I just didn't want to because it seems that every time I give my heart to Discus it gets broken. Angelfish may disappoint me but they have never broken my heart.
My domestic RSG pair from Ryan keep spawning. They are so beautiful. Every time they spawn in the 120 with a bunch of hungry half blacks they guard their eggs until they turn white because the water is too hard. They spawn every 10 days. I have to give in to them. I have sold a ton of Angels for next to nothing to make tank space for grow out. I was prepared to kill the Angels but my LFS bailed me out. I hope that God blesses them. I will keep enough Angels to save me from heartbreak.
I will post a pic of the pair. It's a good pic of the male but a poor pic of the female.

I did say never Liz and I'm rethinking it now too. I think Al actually witnessed it in person. (Are you out there Al? ) I have a pair that lays every 10 days as well. My ph is 8.0 so I would have to remedy that. I also have another pair that has formed that would be fun to try. I have a few extra tanks. Just need to talk myself into it a bit more. I think it's just something every Discus keeper would appreciate witnessing at least once. I always feel guilty watching them work so hard laying, fanning and guarding each and every batch to have them all turn white.
Looking forward to watching your project. Keeping my fingers crossed your heart stays intact and you can enjoy the journey.
You were out there Al you just beat me to the post.

Hope you get some fry from them Liz. They sure are gorgeous fish. I was lucky to see these two in person.

What a gorgeous pair of discus! I can't imagine not trying to spawn them.

At my age, everything is irritating.
Thank you all. Here's a better shot of the female.

Good luck! I just set up a tank after a break of a few years. I'm trying to decide if i want to try some angels or back to my love of the discus.

My only update is that I sold a ton of fish and the pair is now in a love nest of their very own. If you want to know why the water is so dark it's because my eggs wont hatch without Roobios tea pr RO and I find the tea to be the better option. A lot of folks say that the stuff is snake oil but it works for me.

Hey Liz,
Where do you get your Rooibos tea

Thanks Liz. I like the look and plan to give it a try.
