Got to working on the canopy last night. Waiting for glue to dry then will put on piano hinge and do some routing to clean up the edges. Hoping to stain tomorrow and paint inside of canopy.

Been kind of a a slow grind as I was acquiring more things to get going. I know have most of the fittings ( rest will arrive Monday ) and also got a pump ( Fluval SP4. 75 bucks shipped, NEW ... .thank you eBay !! )

Here is my small collection of fittings, 7 more pieces of 1" blue PVC not shown. Leak testing in the next couple of days pending weather and hope to plumb this weekend.

We have kitchen on one side and an breakfast nook on the other side that we sit at pretty often. I have exactly 73" in between two sets of cabinets that it just squeezes into.

I wasn't that lucky, she gave me that side, but wouldn't let me close in and have fish room. On top of that, I have to take the weekend off and build her a guinea pig cage. Such a game of give and take.

Finally got around to the water test. Everything is cleaned up, unfortunately Aqueon doesn't take much pride in their silicone work, I need to clean some of that up. I got the pipes cut of the Herbie overflow, still waiting on my 1" slip x 3/4" mpt ( has anyone ever ordered all the correct fitting the first time around ? ). Now the part I hate, but had to compromise. I wanted to paint the tank a shade of blue, but the other half is demanding a background....NOOOOOOOO!! I then wanted a 3D rock wall, she says... that's too expensive. Now I have to do the paper, God help me. I'm going to try that background adhesive, I've read some horror stories about it pealing off in a few months or developing bubbles at least with the Clearview and Seaview brands, I got the Big Al's brand... will see how that works out, seems to be glorified baby oil.

I also made some overflow covers for any overly happy fish. I saw some for sale for like 50 bucks a pair for acrylic, that is highway robbery. I have some Coroplast that I cut to size and the thickness is perfect to fit between the overflow and rim. Painted it black to match, real happy with such a simple thing. Not much in the way of pics, but it's something. I'm literally at a standstill while I wait on this background to get here, once the tank is in place, nothing is getting put on...

Finally got the tank in place and sump painted. I really wanted to paint tank but was vetoed. Hope to have the kids in their new pool next weekend, they are so crowded, bad parenting on my part.

Got the drain lines mocked up tonight, nothing is glued in place. Return lines will be a challenge, but 'll figure it out. I would have liked to use 45's but it would have added too much work for very little gain since it's not a drastic difference in flow, at least in my application. I may add more unions although I can still easily remove section with the few unions I have right now.

I have a ton of poret foam cube, turns out to be real tough to get it to stay down. I only have maybe a 1/4, if that in the sump right now with 45ppi on top of it. I don't know if it will be less buoyant as it absorbs water or if it will continue to surface.

Just have some diffuser on top with a rock to keep it weighted down for now. Waiting on my reservoir to come in which is 65 gallons, it will serve as the ATO and water change drum. Already ordered the Avast ATO and will try my AquaLifter pump and see
if it can keep up. Also want to try the Magnavore reactor for the Purigen.

This is awesome, I'm looking for a 180 right now and like how your setting everything up. I got 2 fx4 s that I was thinking of pairing it with. I haven't made a sump before but your pictures make it look fun to try and do!
