Oh my goodness Nick,
Did you pull it out? I would have netted the Discus and yanked out that tetra. Did you get some help somewhere? Is the discus ok?
This is one of my fears, I noticed my adult discus chasing my Cories around the other day.
My adult discus decided to eat a larger cardinal Tetra and the tail is sticking out of his mouth and he's visibly struggling, swimming facing straight up etc. Do I try to pull the fish out?! Thanks for any help!

Well I ended up grabbing pliers and yanking it out but maybe too late I'm afraid. It appeared he had swallowed the dish then the tail popped back out a bit so I went in and pulled it. He's resting on the bottom breathing heavy and fins have lost alot of color so my hopes are not high but time will tell. 😢
Oh no
I hope he recovers!! Keep a close eye on him, I'm not sure what else to suggest at this time.
Coming out tail first may have damaged its mouth.I would have left it slowly digest as it goes down.I've seen discus take small fish like this;sometimes takes a while.
Agree with bluelagoon. Ripping out the cardinal may have damaged your fish's throat/gills. Hope all ends well.
