Default Using sea chem Discus Trace with water conditioner (removes chlorine/ chloromines & d

Can you pls advise , i am currently changing 50% of water in my discus breeding tanks daily as its a new set up and not all the sponge filters are working to capacity yet . In order to achieve approx 6.5ph i can only add back 38ppm of de chlorinated tap water otherwise the ph goes through the roof (7.8) so im adding discus trace to put minerals back in as directed on the bottle .

My question is why when i add the discus trace does the PPM not change ? could this be the the tap water conditioner (removes chlorine/ chloromines & dextoxifies heavy metals) working against the discus trace ?

I believe many people here will ask : "why do you have to chase 6.5PH" :P .
