Default Proven Breeding Pair Now Eating Wigglers

I have a pair of Red Turquoise that have spawned numerous times and have raised the fry. The past two spawns they, actually probably just one of them, has started eating the wigglers.

I could put a mesh around the cone but then I am concerned that they will eat the free swimmers?

Is it time to give them a break from breeding?

This is a picture of their last successful spawn.

    Beautiful pair there Scott.

For the next batch I recommend screening the cone and a couple hours before they hatch I recommend to remove the parent that is eating the fry and let the other parent raise the fry. I recommend not to remove the screen until they free swim. Also, now that you separated the parents, the lone parent that is taking care of the fry might get stressed easily so start adding little amount of hatched baby brine shrimp until they start eating bbs. I will move the fry once they start eating bbs actively.

My experience has been that parents will bond with the wrigglers when they hatch and not eat the free swimming fry once they leave the mesh screen.

I have seen the same, they will eat the eggs or wrigglers and even free swimmers when they are not ready to raise them yet. My solution is to just leave them alone. I see them do this when they don't darken while having eggs. A few weeks of spawning after that they get it right again.

Thanks for all the replies. I will give them a couple more spawns. If they keep eating them then I will cover the eggs with mesh.
