Thanks for staying with me on this. I will do as recommended. I was thinking she isn’t ready to compete for food with the other piranhas yet. I’m doing 90% daily wc now. I did 50% for 2 days to slowly remove salt. I didn’t see that you had recommended 7 days and was trying to find out how long to keep her salty when it was right there in your post!
I did wonder about the salt and would like to understand the rationale for keeping her “salty” for 7 days. I’ve been working 13 hrs the last couple days and between wc’s for 3 tanks there isn’t a lot of time for research, but what I have read is confusing. I trust your wisdom Sanjay, but I want to become wise too Like the saying goes about giving a man a fish or teaching a man to fish. Could you help me understand?
    Many thanks,
    Patty

Ok, I’ve been reading about Epsom salt being used for bloat. Salt is used for fungus, cloudy eyes but that’s all I’m reading. Going to get some more live brine today. If my little scrapper wants live brine, my little scrapper gets live brine. Hey, I think I just named another fish!

There's also the salt dip Patty which can be a mighty useful tool.

    Tuterosso,
Well, You were right. He was eating with the salt but appetite decreased with the decrease in salt. I don’t feel I have much to lose at this point. I’m fresh out of non iodized salt so will get some today. Thanks for your help once again. What a roller coaster ride this continues to be.

She’s not eating, so nothing in the food. I drove an hour yesterday to get her fresh live brine and she wouldn’t eat it. I still need to get some more salt and I’ve been reading threads about dips. She was eating with 1 Tbsp/gal salt so I’m doing what worked and will do 90% wc and redose with salt for 7 days. I just finished 14 days of pure metronidazole so l would think the hex would be gone by now. I’m not giving up on her, but this is frustrating. My other fish are fine and are loving the brine.

If a picture speaks a 1,000 words, I thought a video would help my lil scrapper even more. We are on finishing up on the salt and she still isn’t eating. Also a pic I just took with this0512EA50-1C30-48C4-968E-5BC931D29691.jpg

    Patty,
Sometimes we cant help the fish in question. You have really tried hard. It may be a tumor or bad blockage you are dealing with. If you wish to continue I think your only option is another antibiotic. Maracyn 2 would be a good bet, or oxyteracycline.

Had a similar experience recently with one of my fish.
I dose epsom salt together with a type of Chinese medication that deals with organ inflammations.
Do they sell anything similar in your country?
    The swelling had subside.
