I have Kanaplex and Triple Sulfa. I don’t have the ones recommended by Al and Jhemco was closed when I tried to order them-closed weekends. I guess I’ll try Kanaplex since it can be given in water or in food according to directions and both seem to treat same ailments as what you used. Thanks for helping me figure this out Teo.
Much appreciated,
Patty

Thanks Al. I just read the ingredients and see that Kanaplex is only 32% kanamycin. I’ve been reading some stickies that discussed this, but not a lot of info. Would you double the dose? I’m thinking of doing that, and came here to ask about it. I’ve been pretty lucky following advise here, but yours would be especially welcome right now since this is my last ditch effort with her.
Much appreciated,
Patty

I would double it.. even pure Kanamycin has a pretty big range of recommended dosage..If you can lower the water level you can save meds.

this thread made me wonder the concentration of meds in hikari metro
i find it interesting that their page has no SDS for metro
http://www.hikariusa.com/safety.html
Metroplex is 70% metronidazole. I’m reading it from the tube I bought from Saechem. I ended up getting pure metronidazole from jhemco online after reading a bunch of threads on it here. I’m not sure about Hikari Metro, but I did see a contact listed at the end. I’m sure they could tell you if you called them. I liked jhemco because they provide detailed lists and I found them through the people here. These peeps know their ****! Ha ha

Well, my fish is still hanging in there, but not getting better. I’ve treated for everything except worms, but now wonder if she could have eggs bound in her belly as she was a prolific egg layer. I wish one of us would just give this up. I’ve been treating her since 5/3. I’m having a hard time throwing the towel in when she keeps trying/waiting for me to figure this out. Found a thread on egg-binding and wonder if this could be it. She does fit the profile with localized bloating. I’ll rest her for a week and treat for worms as I’ve already given Epsom Salt which is used for egg-binding. I don’t think anything will help at this point, but I’d at least be able to know if it is a potential problem for her former tankmates. She is no longer my patient but rather my test subject. I received my microscope yesterday and got one that can take photos. Whether I can figure out how to use it if another story.

take fresh poop on the microscope and make movie we will see what you have, cut little tail and check
This is what I did many years ago when one of my discus totally stopped eating despite after deworming. The fish was still swimming, just not eating.
Like you, I've also exhausted all treatments and came to a point whereby I've nothing to lose anymore...
I net a bag of live brine shrimp and release them into the tank.
I think the fast moving brine shrimp caught my discus attention and started chasing them down and ate them all up.

Thanks Teo,
Al advised me to do the same and it worked for a day. I’m going to get some more today. Whatever happened to your fish? Did you ever get to the bottom of it? Thanks for your sage advise.

Thanks Teo. Today she was swimming around in the front and top of the tank. I don’t know if she’s getting better or contemplating suicide-there is an opening in the front...Ha ha

Yes Al. Still swollen. I wondered if she could be egg bound as she was quite the egg layer. Also, I had her in plain salt water for almost a week before I changed her to Epsom salt. I maybe didn’t keep her in Epsom Salt long enough (3 days-1 TBSP/gal.) but I was afraid she’d been in reg salt so long. She won’t eat live brine. image.jpgimage.jpg a few pics. Is her head pinched?
