    Default setting up first tank

    Hello,

I am in the first stages of setting up a 65 Gallon tank

I do plan on having a few plants, a couple of Cory's and possibly 8 to 10 cardinal tetras

I don't want to overcrowd the tank so I am thinking 4 discus to be the max number.

I know they like to be in numbers is 4 too small a number?

    Thanks

Hi Lloyd and welcome to simply. I would suggest reading the stickies in the beginner section before you setup your tank and getting discus. In a 65 I would start with a bare bottom and only with discus. No plants or dithers for now. You will honestly need about 6 to spread out the aggression across the group. Do some reading and see what you think.

Group of 6 is a good number to start with. I recommend size 4" or greater, it will save you more time and money in the long run.
