Let’s talk plants for a minute. I’ve never been a fan of planted tanks, just a personal preference. However I always use some sort of floater or emerged plants with their roots in the water for water quality.

So this tank will be no different, there will be a ton of pothos all the way in the back, left to right. I’ve been trying for ages to get some Ceratophyllum as floaters for the blues, but no luck here.

I’m also contemplating adding one or 2 big submerged plants, suspects here are Lotus and Echinodorus. I’m a bit worried though that it will change the look of the tank too much, drawing too much attention to the huge bright green, or in the case of lotus reddish, brute of a plant. The idea of a lotus growing all the way above the water column though intrigues me.

if chipped corners weren't structural issue... i'd be tempted to negotiate a discount, you could then use that savings towards stocking.

They would have been, the way they were chipped. Even if not obviously, in my opinion a tank that size has to be built perfectly. Else I wouldn’t be able to sleep. Last thing I want is to worry wether it’s gonna hold or not. Same for the stand. I had them build it for at least double the tonnage.

New lot coming tomorrow night, am really excited. Hope all goes well, but they’ll only be in the boxes for about 24hrs.

Only 3 boxes are mine, the fourth belongs to my co conspirator here. There’s 20 discus and 7 L plecos for me and 5 discus for him.
15 of those 20 are for the new tank, plus 4 heckels and one green for the other setups.

And one of the Iripixi, some are already looking for food, pecking at the alder cones. Will start them off with some blood worms in the afternoon, then higher quality food once they’re a bit more acclimated.
