Who wants to see some of the other Show Fish?

Maybe I am missing the point. I know how a show works, and i'm sorry to be playing devils advocate here but I just haven't seen many nice discus from NADA. I understand that the quality of the fish isn't everything, and the whole experience as a whole is important to those who are attending. I am not downing the event itself, just the quality of many of the discus. I don't think this is a bad event, I'm sure the volunteers work hard at making it an enjoyable experience. Unfortunately for me personally, I view a show as a place where one may go to see some amazing discus, not merely a social event. Whilst I believe it will be good to talk to judges, breeders etc. at the show, that is not what I personally am looking for. I don't need a show to talk to breeders, retailers judges Etc. I am not basing it off a single photo of a single discus, I have seen numerous photo's. To be fair, I may not have seen every single discus, but I have seen many photos here on SD as well as on FB and other places. I am also aware that people give more weight to certain traits than others, but I haven't seen any that excel in any single trait.

I also am not a judge,but I think most of the pics do look like run of the mill discus,so to speak.I tend to agree with Zac on his observations,on the shape especially.

Please post more if you can. I’ve enjoyed seeing all of these beautiful Discus. I couldn’t go so this is great to be able to see these. I appreciate how much effort it must take to pull all of this off, from the show to people shipping their prized Discus, to all of the hard work in uploading these pics too! THANK YOU!

From a person who just returned to fishkeeping after 15 years (and relatively new to the forum), I want to encourage the posting of the pics. Opinions of the grade of the fish, while important, is not the aim of the pictures in my opinion. It encourages all of us to aim for the highest care of our beloved discus. If you grade it less, then aim for better in your tank and with your fish. If you grade it as beautiful (as I do), then be encouraged to learn all you can to care for one’s own discus. Discus keeping is a lifetime learning experience. I have benefited from every post that I have read on the forum.

Just got my 10 from Kenny’s yesterday. They are doing great with a nervous caregiver. I hope one day to attend a NADA meeting and greeting those by face whom I am just learning by name & post. My understanding is that I have 2 years to wait.

I want you guys to understand why I asked about forgoing posting the rest of the pictures. There is a significant time investment in sorting, doing some minor cropping, uploading to Flickr and posting here on SD. So if no one is getting anything out of it then best for me to spend my time doing more useful things. However since there is an interest in continuing this I will.
