Looking to start a discus tank , looking for info on how to set up the water for them and also the care of them. Thanks i
Hi Tyler,
welcome to the forum.
As Frank said, the stickies in the sub forums are extremely helpful and I highly recommend you read through those, as they will answer most if not all your questions you may have.
Since there are so many different ways to keep discus (planted, biotope, bare bottem, grow out, hardscape etc.), there is no one answer to any of those questions.
Once you have familiarized yourself with the basics and there are still issues unclear, you are very welcome to ask specific questions.
In the mean time, apart from the stickies, also browse through members’ journals and other threads and sub forums like the planted/biotope section and tank builds for some inspiration.

Welcome to SD. I learned everything I know about keeping this fascinating fish here. You won’t meet a better group of helpful, informed or experienced discus keepers anywhere. I’ve been into them for almost 2 yrs and I’m still over the moon and still learning so much.
As one who started with lfs discus, don’t make the mistake I made. Starting fresh with healthy quality fish was definitely a game changer for me. I’ve been reading this forum almost 2 yrs and 2 frequent problems I see are buying from lfs and not quarantining new fish. It’s covered in the stickies, but can’t be emphasized enough imho. The sponsors here have met standards of excellence to be able to sell here. It changed my experience from one of dismay to pure joy.
Also, this forum is here to support new members to the hobby so don’t be afraid to ask questions. You’ll find most are very encouraging and helpful.
