Considering their size /age I would go with 100% every other day .
Both routines sounds right enough so its really a though decision weighing between the two of them .
If they were 2-3 inch I would have gone with the other option though.
50% a day
100% every other day
If you were only able to do a 50% daily WC or a 100% WC every other day, which would you choose? - for the purpose of this question, the fish are at least 4.5"
I am currently in a situation where I only have enough water storage to service 50% a day to my two 135g tanks. I am considering switching up my routine to 100% every other day...I would like to get the opinions of some of the seasoned discus veterans before I make a concrete decision.
I have another storage tank in the works, but I have to do some renovations to fit it into the fishroom.
Thanks!
Mike

Thanks for the votes so far, I was hoping the poll wouldn't end up at 50/50...keep the votes coming!

100% every other day keeps the nitrates lower (on avarage) than 50% every day so for an equal volume of water used it is more efficient. Smaller daily changes keep parameters more stable and if your fish were smaller and eating less I agree it may be better but for your fish my vote would be for 100% every other day. Ultimately I reckon it will not make a huge difference compared let's say 10% daily Vs 100% every ten days water changes
Yesterday, I started the new regime, however, I couldn't help myself from at least vacuuming up the poop in the other tank..so It ended up being more like a 75%/25%....I will hold strong and ignore the 2nd tank today and get the new schedule going as planned
