Hi,
One of my discus fish is not eating for past 1 month.
But it seems active.
I did metro treatment.
2gm for 100 liter water at 32C.
But after 4 days it was gasping for air.
So i did the metro at 29C.
Still it didnt take any food.
I see thick white poop. I cant have access microscope to check it.
I heard Prazi works well than metro. Should i do praziquental treatment?
Can Some experts guide me the treatment with Procedure?
Thanks,
Vasanth
Hi Vasanth .
It would be wise to proceed the treatment you have already started and be patient to see results .
Metro treatment should be performed for at least 8-10 days , and the recovered fish can take even a week or two after the treatment its done to start eating again.
With that said , you have double dosed metro so far and you need to cut that dose in half dosing only 1 gram of metro per 100 liters .
Raising the heat up to 34 even 35 C is also done , but you need to be extra carefull about keeping the tank extra clean , doing daily large WCs (up to 80-90 % WCs ) on every redose , and most importantly keep the aeration and oxygen very high providing a plenty of water surface movement .
Prazi is for tapeworms and they protrude out less often and look different than the common white stringy hex poop . Providing a photo of your discus and its poop will also help here if you are in doubt .
Good luck with your discus .
