    That is a really cool capture. I love these type of shots where you will probably not be able to do a search on google and see another similar to it lol.

    Same here Liz .
    The name comes from their strong and unpleasant smell once you crush them . I wonder why they are called assassins though since they look so peacefull to me .

    The photo is great Pat . it seems to me that this stink bug has find his free ride to town

    Would be interested in why they are beneficial. Like Liz, we call them stink bugs, and they really pick at my raspberries

    No offense intended Brady, but as others have said, this is an insect from the humble stink bug family. The assassin bug has a spear like appendage that is part pf its mouth with which it impales and ingests its prey. Google images wil show you plenty of licalities & color variation but the body shape is distinctly different from the stink bug group ☺
