    Default DC Airpumps recommendations

Hi all, Probably a stretch here but does anyone have any experience with Air Pumps that run on DC as opposed to AC?. I'm not interested in the small D size battery operated bait bucket type pumps. I mean the more heavy duty ones that can run multiple tanks and run off 12 volts. Theres a bunch on Amazon with mediocre reviews....

    Something like this..

EBAY has a bunch too but I have no clue how good they are.

    Anyone?

No experience, but what's the appeal? Are they supposed to be quieter and more efficient like DC water pumps?

Maybe Al wants to take some fish along on the camping trip...run the pumps off the car battery?

Haha . What an idea Paul . I have yet to see someone taking his pet fish with him on a vacation trip . Just imagine the neighbours looks on their face when you take out a 50 gallon fish tank out of your vehicle

lol.. sorry Guys.I went camping and lost track of this thread. Discus did not come along... instead I came back daily for them.

Adam asked "whats the appeal?" I have generators here for power outages but I have several 12 volt Deep cycle battery systems that use inverters. These systems I can charge by solar panels if need be or by AC if its availible. Using inverters to convert DC to a AC to then run airpumps that run on household energy works but is very inefficient. You get more out of your Batteries if you run appliances that work off DC natively.. That can translate to hours more use of your battery at a time when you need it most.

I ended up picking up one to try..Boyu Acq 903
    on ebay.

Im still playing around with it but it is a pretty powerful little pump for its size...I'm optimistically hopeful it works out. Time will tell.

Gotcha. Just assumed they were like DC return pumps. How's the noise?

They are actually really quiet Adam..I should do a video on it at some time.

This particular pump runs on about 35 watts /12 v= around 3 amps.. a 100 amp Hour (aH) battery will run that pump a good 15 hours straight at 50 % drain on the battery. I could make that last several days if I run it intermittently.
