Hi Liz, I know nothing about angels but will be happy to cross body parts for this possibly unique project. Any pics of the pair?
Pat
Some of you know that I have Angelfish and have been doing my best to send them to good homes rather than giving them the ice water bath. But I love my Half Blacks and haven't parted with them, although I should let some of them go.
I mentioned that I had a half black/blue silver pearlscale pair that had a successful spawn. I hadn't bred Anglel's since it time for a fry to grow to a sub-adult. I fell off the wagon with these. The fact that I had an excellent excuse for falling off the wagon is beside the point.
This pair just had may be 500 wigglers free swim today. I will get nothing but Blue Silver's from them. When I cross sib to sib I will have a 4.687 chance of geting Blue Half Blacks and a 1.625 chance of getting Half Black Blue Pearls which would be icing on the cake.
Please wish me luck. This will be a very long term project and will require a ton of good luck.

What Pat said from me too!
I shall do my best. I still have to fight the computer to get my pics to where I can edit and attach them. Sometimes I can do it, sometimes I can't. Don't hold your collective breath.

Oh my gosh Liz! Blue silver pearlscale, is that another name for blue platinum pearlscale? If so I’m looking at those with the half black and thinking it would be like hitting the lotto. The odds are better too! That would be a sight to see! They sure know how to avoid an ice bucket challenge don’t they? Ha ha I’ll be watching this thread for sure.

They're entirely different Patty. Here's a shot of a pair of blue silvers from my old pics. I'm still trying to get the pics of the new pair to where I can attach them here.

Success!!!!
I couldn't get a good pic of both mom and dad together so here's one decent pic of each. The blue doesn't show in the Silver because of the tea remaining in the water.

Beautiful Liz

The exciting part will be when these grow up and I breed sib to sib. I may end up with nothing of interest but if I get lucky I will hit the jackpot.
Mama Bear
Wow those blue silvers are nice. A blue half black would be an amazing fish and if you got pearscale to boot? Ohhhh laaa laaa! Cha Ching! It’s going to be a long wait but we’ll worth waiting for. Congratulations!

Those are beautiful Liz!

Awesome looking Angels. Can't wait to see how they turn out!

Breeding , interest and goals Wilds Heckels and Cuipeuas and a few Domestics pairs with occasional fry as well as Angels fancy Plecos , corys and shrimps.
I can tell you right now how they will turn out. They will all be plain old Silvers. It won't be until these grow up and I breed sib to sib that I will have a chance of seeing recessive genes get together and make magic. This is a long term project.
Mama Bear
I bet a lot of people here would line up to get some of those “plain old silvers” Lol I know it’s way too soon, but I’m excited for you. So cool!

No way. They will be good fish because the parents are so good, but they silver part will be silver rather than blue. None will be pearlscale. The only people who will be interested them are serious Angelfish breeders looking for an interesting project. I have some contacts to the Angelfish people on another forum but I told them about this project and none of them are doing back flips over it. When they grow to nickle size I'll sell them on Aquabid based on their genetics. I'll ask a rather high price for them. These are special and I would rather take them to the LFS than sell them to breeders trying to get them on the cheap.
I'll keep about 20 to grow out here. I'll pray that when they start to pair up they have the same taste in genetic combinations that I have.
