Since returning to Hobby Breeder status this past year I have really had to streamline what I try and Breed. I just don't have the space any more, or the time. I set a goal of snakeskins and wilds. I have a few prospective pairs right now, but my favorite pair is a wild Green Male XFine Line Blue Snakeskin Female. Two weeks ago they made me very very Happy.

Taking pics was a bit of a pita as they are in a 55 gal tank and the reflections really made me crazy! I did not want to fuss with them much though so it is what it is.
I separated the pair just after these pics as I was going camping for the week and wasn't taking any chances. I drove back and forth from the campsite to feed them twice a day..As I type this the pair is literally spawning again. Hopefully it goes as well this time.

Gorgeous pair- congratulations.
By the way, if these are point and shoot pictures, when you try and take your time with your shots- they must be incredible.
Absolutely gorgeous pair Al but I am loving that wild green. Looks like they are doing you proud.
Pat
Your discus are talking to you....are you listening
Beautiful! Looking forward to see how they turn out. Nice to see the wild bug bite the big boss here
I love them, too. If things go to plan, I will want some of those kids to cross with my Domestic RSG Blue Scorpion kids. At what size do you offer them for sale?
Mama Bear
Thanks everyone. They are definitely a promising pair.. If they do as my wild green crosses have done in the past they should be very interesting fry!
Mauro, The wild bug latched onto me a very long time ago and has never let go!
Liz, Honestly I dont know yet. Im looking for a few traits and won't be letting any of these go until I can see them. I will definitely keep you posted though!

Al, I would like to be first on the list (unless someone is already first). I'm curious about what traits you are looking for.
Mama Bear
Liz, you are first on the list. The traits .. Basically I am trying to recreate a cross I did a while back...
Theres some old pics here..
http://forum.simplydiscus.com/showth...ross-revisited
This current cross may not throw anything like the old cross... The female there was pretty poorly shaped but was snakeskin and not commonly marked.. its color was very cool though and it had an interesting pattern.
Im interested in the snakeskins and believe there will be some very nice Turqs. Time will tell... I may need to get a good scorpion Snakeskin instead.

Discus breeding is so cool. You never know what you're going to get.
I remember that thread and remember how impressed by the quality of the offspring considering the shape of the parents. The SS was not a good shape period. The wild was a good fish but it had the typical wild shape rather than a score card shape. And you raised them artificially, to boot. You must have doted on those fish when it came to maintenance to have gotten resulted in results like that. They should have been entered in a show.
I'm surprised that you got any SS's from that cross. I would have expected that you would have had no SS's from a wild. I didn't think that you'd get that unless you crossed the offspring together. With Discus you never know.

Wow Al, those are gorgeous fish! I am discusless right now, and those pics make me want more discus so badly. Best of luck with them!
Barb
Very nice Al. Looks like a stunning pair, and good parents as well. I noticed with the previous pair that there was an almost solid red fish with some pattern on the face. Was there more than 1 that looked like that? Do you think perhaps there will be some solid reds from this pair?
Very Nice looking Discus good work AL!
