Shame about the domestic aggression mate but a remarkable recovery after the trim. Did they stop beating on each other once all the fry were gone? What's the plan next successful spawn? Really nice looking discus
That grew back so nice Brian So glad you trimmed it.

I like reading these threads and seeing how others are doing and what one can learn. These are beautiful discus and such a great job growing them out. Always loved watching these challenges and see how the fish grow out. So nice to see them actually pairing off and spawning.
+1 with Larry
Very cool Brian that the fin grew back like that. How did you go about trimming it?

Well, it's with much sadness to report that the male in this pair died. There was kind of a perfect storm. They got into another fight and he was injured again. The next day, their tank sprung a leak so I had to move them into a community tank. In this tank, another alpha male decided to beat him up a little more. It was 3 days before their tank was ready. I noticed he was acting a little off but he was still eating and they even spawned again. There was a huge clutch of eggs but only about 15 fertilized, but this didn't stop the female from attacking him again so I pulled her. Between the stress of the initial injury, the move and more attacks, he developed an infection that started in his gills and immediately moved internal. He bloated up and died within 2 days.
It really is a shame. His mosaic pattern combined with his very deep blue base made him one of the nicest Turq's I've ever seen...

Sorry Brian to hear this
That sucks mate, sorry. He was a stunner for sure!
really crappy loss.
you've done so well growing these out.
did you suggest the female is already paring with another male?
Lynn
Right now she's in with my monster Cuipera cross. I'm pretty sure it's a male but he doesn't seem too interested in spawning. Too bad because he's awesome and huge and at a little over 8" probably big enough to repel any attack she has in mind...
Just some pics from today. It seems they are still growing!

The one in the background is the nasty little cull from the Uncle that Scammed me. I wish it hadn't been so stunted when I got it because the colors remind me of a true San Merah.
