I love the spotting on the blue SS but you're right, this Turk is the best.
Thanks Lynn! I'm painting their new room at this moment and should transfer them in a few days after trim is up. I'll take a measurement and update when I move them...

Thank you Rick!!
They're getting ever so closer to their new home... hopefully by this mid-week. Just when It seems they are slowing down, there appears to be changes, both in size and color. What was once the largest is now in 4th place in a matter of just a few weeks. And others that I thought were doomed to be small, have also been taking on size. Also, but the time I resize the photos, they are a little washed out and colors are a little off. Maybe I can play with the settings and see what I can come up with...

They look great Brian, lots of color and nice and thick. I am seeing the smaller ones catching up with my larger ones also.

Your discus are talking to you....are you listening
Stunning mate. The Turk in the 2nd has sensational sea green guess...so beautiful!
Breakfast time!! I had a setback in moving them into their new home. Tank sprung a leak and my repair failed, so I'm buying a new tank today. This is the first time I've had a tank leak on me, and after a closer look, it was never correctly sealed from the factory. It's amazing it didn't leak 15 years ago when I bought it!!

2nd reseal failed as well, so I ran down to Petsmart and they had 55g tanks with LED's, HOB filter (won't be using) and heater for $100. I've always been able to handle a 55g tank myself, but I was feeling especially weak that day so I got some help. I got it home and found out why I couldn't lift it. All my other 55's are 3/16" glass and this one was 1/2" and must weigh 100lbs. I guess I got a one of a kind because all the others were 3/16". It's actually very nice looking with the thick glass, so I decided not to paint it blue like all the others.
I used Stone Creations as usual to paint the bottom...

It's aging with the HOT Magnum now and my discus should have their long awaited new home tomorrow!!!
Great looking discus! Great job.
How are you getting your discus so meaty? Mine grew to 6 inch but is not as meaty as your discus. I cut back to 2 feedings a day when it hit the 5.5” mark. However, It’s been two weeks since I up’d their feeding to 6x’s a day again to get some thickness. I’m feeding Al’s worms, frozen blood worms, and 3x/day tetra bits.
Thanks!! I feed them anywhere between 3 to 6 times per day, home made BH, Tetra Colorbits and FDBW's. Even approaching a year, they still act like every meal is their last...
Moving day! I suck at measurement photo's because I can't ever get the angle right, but here they are. The largest is 5 5/8" and the smallest about 5" even though my rookie photography skills don't show it. They look much larger in the tank. A couple got pretty scratched up while fighting the net so I didn't photograph all of them, but I did toss a cup of salt in to help ward off any possible infection... Pat and I agree that the contest isn't really a contest anymore, so these photo's are just for show and I will continue to update their progression as time goes by...

Settling in... The bright white LED lights on this new tank don't do much to promote their true colors. I guess I'll be in the market for some better quality lights...
