Pigeons don't darken .They only stress the peppering if they have any.

Good luck with your future spawns. It's sure a nice treat to watch them do their parenting in the community tank too.Enjoy the show

Thanks for your answer. The status thus far:
First spawn I quit on( free swimming in cordoned off 90 gallon )and moved the parents to a 20 tall.... That tank leaked......moved them back in the 90. Second spawn (cordoned off the 90, removed all gravel over a week and all community fish......6 other discus on the other side only. The fry attached today which I am quite excited about.I only had the RB leds on and it worked. I read here that it could be good for pigeon blood fry to find the parents.

That 20 has been brutal...after three silicone attempts it still leaked, smaller than a pin hole I would say....very slow....presently giving it one more go with the silicone...unreal....long story with that 20 anyway...however will see if it works this last time. Yes I have sealed tanks before no problem but this tank is cursed haha

I'm in no hurry. I have a 55 planted,(with tetras and other small community fish) which I may remove all and put in the 90 with the other 6 discus. I was planning on putting the pair over in the 55 with egg crate at the ready. Another pair is forming for sure......Will try to get some pics up.

To have this pair with attachment with second spawn is hopefully a good indicator that I may get something out of this.

Parents of these were white faced yellows. Have turned somewhat orange but do look some what more yellow depending on light.

I just recently turned on the white Leds and boom the fry scattered from the parents. I immediately turned them back off. Yikes........I realize this spawn can be lost and expect it until I set them up in their own tank but that kinda freaked me out. The fry must have been blinded. Any thoughts on this?

Have a dimmer for the blues and dimmer for the whites originally and the dimmer for the whites is kaput. I could just switch it around. Introducing white light would have to be gradual for sure by the look of what happened. But they do need to come on.

Fair to say there are about 30-35 fry on the male mostly. Taking this a step at a time because they are still in the 90 gallon cordoned off from the other discus. Man this is so nice to see. It really is amazing.

It is very cool to see fry on the backs of parents. Sort of up to you on the next step. You up for some fry rearing?

Yes it is very cool and amazing how fast they grow from the slime. Yes I'm all in with the rearing. Always wanted to do this at least once.

Sounds like you need a growout tank. Do you have any small tanks...perhaps a 20?
