discus66.jpg Had to separate the adults. The male doesn't want the female near the fry it seems. They are fine one minute and they are savage at eachother the next. Mostly aggression from the male.
discus44.jpgdiscus55.jpg Couple of pics of the 90 gallon after the move. All seems ok. I am presently doing 50-75% water changes on this tank every 3 days or so.

discus77.jpgdiscus99.jpg They feed almost exclusively from the male when they want to feed from the parents.
I removed the craft canvas from the egg crate so as not to cause to much stress for the female. The fry can swim back and forth through the divider, which they are doing. Seems to be working out that way so far.
daddy fry.jpg The black tails seem to be lessening over in the 55 gallon. Even with white background and no plants etc. in the 90 they remained black. I'm thinking that the bottom is also white as the sides in the 55 that that may be a contributing factor?
Very nice progression of this thread Megatrev and great pictures of baby discus nurturing.
Your forest looking display tank looks cool too .
As far as I know the bottom colour is the most important factor of camouflage / peppering of discus . Side colours comes as secondary .
Thank you it is new and exciting for sure.Yes, on an earlier thread I changed the 90 around with advice here. Not sure what I am going to do with it. I may remove some val and just go with a few swords. The male and female turned a little too nasty for my liking. This arrangement seems alright at the moment.
Just to add. The fry are picking at the bottom constantly. They pick at the bh and left over bbs. I am confident they would eat or at least pick at anything. They know when I'm feeding brine believe me. It gives me confidence. I am very hesitant to feed crushed flake. I don't really know why but the thought of flake food would concern me with the fry?Maybe because it expands when wet? Any thought on this?
Crush it than soak it in a cup of tank water for couple of minutes before feeding .

Messenger certainly washes out pics.
Which one do you refer to megatrev ?
